Sludge is an inevitable byproduct of water treatment processes. The treatment and removal of sludge from Water treatment plants is essential for efficient plant operation. There a numerous ways of dealing with sludge including;

Gravity Sludge ThickenersGravity Sludge Thickener

Large hopper style tanks that thicken the sludge by allowing the sludge to build-up at the base of the hopper. The Thickener also allows water to be recycled back through the plant. The sludge is either removed by a tanker or transferred to sludge drying bed (see below) for further sludge treatment.

Raked Sludge Thickeners

Raked Thickener are similar to Gravity Thickeners but have a drive and shaft that pulls a rake though the built-up sludge in the hopper.

Sludge Drying BedsSludge Drying Beds

Allow the Sludge to settle in large flat reinforced concrete beds. The water is evaporated leaving the sludge to dry out and form a crust on the bed floor. This sludge crust is then removed and sent to landfill.

Lamella plate separators

Lamella plate separators are ideal for high rate treatment for mining, construction site storm water and industrial applications.

Sludge Management Control Systems

Sludge blanket density and level control minimises clarifier underflow (sludge volume) losses resulting in better clarifier efficiency.
